We designed a new car park in the historic setting of the National Trust's at Erddig Hall, creating the planning application and detailed design. Located within an existing orchard area the scheme features SUDs, meadow planting, heritage apple varieties and electric car charging points.
Lingard Styles were commissioned by Cadw to provide landscape design, including a planting plan, and ecology services for this World Heritage Site castle on the edge of Snowdonia National Park.
A new visitors' centre included green roofs, green screens, a coastal planting scheme and even bespoke heated bat boxes in the prison tower. We also provided further advice on material selection in keeping with the site's vernacular.
The project was delayed for six months while archaeologists investigated a Medieval burial ground that was discovered during the works. The visitors centre is now open to the public.
Further details of the project can be seen here.
Lingard Styles were commissioned to provide a heritage statement to support a planning application for an extension to an industrial estate near Droitwich Spa in Worcestershire. The local planning authority, Wychavon District Council, had requested a report on the likely impacts on the Grade I listed Westwood House (pictured) and its registered parkland setting.
Lingard Styles completed a series of tree surveys and long term mangement plans for trees at sites managed by Cadw. The historic sites in west Wales included castles at Kidwelly, Laugharne and Wiston and the Priory at Haverfordwest. The adjacent image is Wiston Castle founded in the 12th Century by the Flemish settler Wizo.
